Excellent app. It makes me remember from my old books. Very anxious for the Deathtrap Dungeon.

I really love the fighting fantasy gamebooks, always did. But why did they choose Forest of Doom? Its dull in comparison to a lot of the later FF Gamebooks, especially the ones from Jonathan Green. Still entertaining, but too simple, and not challenging at all.
Awesome! Another home run! Well worth the wait! Love the interactive map!
Great work classic series. Background music is good, system is great. Would like more books: Trial of champions Death trap dungeon Citadel of chaos Freeway fighter Island of the lizard king Appointment with fear Cavern of the snow witch
Loved these games as a kid, and this app really brought back the nostalgia! Easy controls and quick to get into... Really fun game!
If you like choose your own adventure then this is the ultimate app for you! In this adventure you get to kill monsters, watch out for traps, and take control of your destiny; you are the hero! No adventure sheets needed, the app keeps track of your inventory and stats!
This was my favorite of the Fighting Fantasy books growing up in the early 80s, and this app does the book right! The adventure sheet is a pleasure to use, the automap is great, and the ability to toggle between retro and modern looks is a nice touch. For fan service, there are extras, achievements, and an unlockable alternate cover artwork. The only thing missing would be the US cover art as an unlockable. If you have any interest in D&D style gamebooks, this is a must buy.
I am really enjoying this story. The only things are the typos that are in it. And I mean a lot. For starters the plural for Dwarf is Dwarves not Dwarfs. And in some instances the word YOUR is replaced by YOU. Other than that all is fine.
Crashes frequently on my iPad. Expected more than this for 6 dollars. Planning on ordering the real book tomorrow.
I would have rated this 5 stars had the price been cheaper. I just dont think the adventure was long enough to pay $5.99 for it. It is a cyoa book with the use of generated dice and character stats. Its basically a solo rpg. Amazing and fun.
I was a fan of the series as a kid and especially loved The Forest of Doom. My paper copy is halfway around the world, so Im really happy Tin Man Games has so faithfully reproduced this and other Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks in app form. Its so great to relive such a pleasant part of my childhood and be able to share it with others in this high tech age. The app runs smoothly on my iPad 3 and offers all the fun of the paper version. The colors and background music add to the atmosphere, while the automatic fighting system makes it easy to read on the go. I really appreciate the fact that I cannot finish the book by cheating. In fact, this is the first time I got to the end of the book honestly. I think kids accustomed to video games will appreciate experiencing this book in app form. Parents should appreciate these apps as a tricky way to get their kids to read. I really enjoyed reading background information on the book and the origins of Fighting Fantasy. I think future editions would do well to include as many such extras as possible.
I used to love choose your own adventure books when I was a kid and Im stoked that Ive got a D&D themed one on my iPhone now. Ill definitely be buying more of this developers CYOA games!
Highly recommend this adventure into the Fighting Fantasy world.
I loved the Fighting Fantasy books as a kid, and I love that someone is cranking out these apps, but $5.99 does seem a bit steep for this game, considering how short a time it takes to play.
Crashes before starting EVERY time!
I had all these books as a kid in the early 80s. The engine is fantastic and really slick. The new color images are superb and the developer has put a lot if effort into creating a seamless recreation and experience for the gamer. Only request is a way to easily restart. I couldnt find that.
Like the others mentioned, it crashes during the early loading scenes. One tome I didnt touch the screen at all and it loaded up. I created a character, fought and won just one battle and then it crashed in the middle of the second fight. Running on an iPad 2. Odd this would crash because it runs way more graphically intensive games just fine ( angry birds go, baldurs gate, trials Frontier, ect...
Something is wrong with this release. When you tap the screen to get past the intro it tries to load additional content, like the other Tin Man FF titles, then crashes. The other FF games dont have this problem. Please fix.
Excellent History. Ian Livingstone is definitely an awesome story-teller.
Its fun but I can only play once delete it then redownload the game to be able to play again other wise I get stuck with the game over screen
